The main problem with the HF pliers was getting the clip loose using the handles, just could not get enough force going by hand to budge it. Thus the C-Clamp, positioned such that pushing on the clamp body held both it and the pliers in place. Thankfully once the clip was out I was able to compress it a little at a time using the pliers' locking function to put it back in.
