Another 9000 Aero 5-spd for me.... 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Mon, 9 May 2016 09:15:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I picked up a 96 Aero 5-spd from the Saabnet classified section. 161K on the clock. It's a black 96 to replace my totaled Scarab Green 97 5-spd. It's not as solid as my 97 was but it's not bad. PS rear quarter needs to be redone and a few chips and rust spots starting here and there. It was the one listed in Windham, ME. The tranny appears to be in decent shape with no grinding in any of the gears. The black interior is in excellent shape with no wear spots on the bolsters. The DS seat heater even works. I've been fixing the little things.....I reinstalled a PCV check valve, replaced the power window switch box (PS frt window didn't work when I got it), replaced the radio receiver as the radio tuner was inop, replaced the broken flasher switch, fender marker light, etc. I have to replace the rocker cover gasket and the exhaust manifold gasket as they both leak. Probably need to do the heater core and blower motor soon. I need to reinstall the power antenna and install the 6 disc changer. Seems like a decent car and I hope to drive it for as long as my kids are in college, at least.
I absolutely gutted my 97 Aero. Interior is removed so I can put it in my 97 CSE. Engine and tranny are in the garage, just in case. Front end and fenders were removed. Pretty much just a hulk. I called the wreckers today and found out how dismal the scrap market is. The last two I junked were worth $200-250. This one is worth $0.00 and they will only pick it up if they're in the area. Two yards said the same thing .....zilch. I do need it gone as there are currently four 9000's in my crowded driveway.
