It would resolve the problem for a while, but it always came back. My theory is that it had a "dead spot" - ok when traveling past that spot, but if it stopped in that spot, it wouldn't move by itself. Ultimately resolved by replacing the servo motors. You can check for function by removing the radio sticking your hand through the opening around the right side of the blend box. You should feel two posts with cables on them. With the car running, and your hand in there, adjust the temp and air flow settings (defrost, floor) and see (feel) what moves. BE CAREFUL THAT YOU DON'T GET YOUR FINGERS PINCHED. A little experimentation should let you know if this is your problem, or it lies elsewhere. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it's been 5-6 years since this happened, and I really don't recall my troubleshooting methodology.
I also had the blend door break inside the air box on another 9000 - the flap arm moved in the aquarium, but it was not moving the door. Found that one by removing the heater core, and could then see the flaps, one of which obviously wasn't attached at both ends.
