Indefinite age/mileage!! NYC cabbies routinely ran Crown Vics to 500k (at least before UBER!) . Fenders are bondoed and repainted. Engines/trans seem to be durable. But not a joy on anything other than stop-and-go traffic on city streets.
Saab B234 seemingly easily run to 300-500k with a head gasket job in between.
My last I retired at 374k due to rust. Engine fine-used no oil. After a while though, working on and looking at a really rusty car takes all of the satisfaction away from keeping it up. But now that my current fleet are rust free, its easier to prevent/stay on top of the tinworm.
Other than that, I think it comes down to-is there a car you enjoy driving more? If so, then do so. I love to use my big BMW 740 il (e38) on weekends. Its quiet, v8 engine and 5-speed auto a marvel. There is not a more comfortable ride out there. But I still enjoy the twisty commute in the Saab as it holds the road. The 9000 is in no way a luxury car, or a sports car, but its probably the most versatile. The BMW has no fold down seat, nor roof racks. Nor Recaros. Nor rack-and-pinion. The Saab I can DIY a lot, the BMW not as much. Guess which one I could sell for more?
