Hi All,

I have been a longtime lurker as I grew up in a SAAB family. We had 3 9000 Turbos (`86, `89, and `97 CSE), all with 5 speeds. After some bad dealer experiences around 2004/2005 we began buying BMWs. Long story short, my entire family now drives BMWs. My mum just got rid of her 9-5 Linear sedan with 300K miles for a manual BMW 328xiT wagon. As you can image, it was not easy to give up the last SAAB.

So this brings me to the Aero. My partner and I happened across a rust free `95 9000 Aero 5 speed with service records that was owned by a former SAAB technician for the past 3 years. The car has around 158K miles. It has some flaws, but is solid and some big things like the clutch, master, and slave cylinder have been done, as well as the timing chain tensioner. The car came with Thule Roof Bars and three spare DI cassettes.

Cosmetically, it needs some touch-ups and a good detail, but I am semi-professional so that isn't an issue. Both front seat bottoms have tears but they aren't horrible. These will eventually need to be addressed. The dash has the usual cracks on the pad. Car lived in VA for most of it's life.

The mechanical/operational flaws are few but will need to be addressed. The tach works sporadically (I think the motor is dying?), the parking brake does not hold (we will try adjusting it), and the door locks do not work. The remotes work to open the trunk and when inside the car pushing the lock button I can hear something trying to happen. Could all 4 actuators be shot? The dust covers on both from door locks are long gone and thus we are unable to stick the key in and try manual lock operation. Thoughts on any of the above would be helpful.

Looking forward to many miles and lots of adventures!

Wade
