Hello,
I have seen this type of problem quite a few times. Yes you will need to remove the door panel. Most likely it is the inner portion of the lock latch assembly. But it could be the outer portion of the lock latch assembly. If you really force the key you will brake the end of key lock. Usually if you take it out and lube it up good it will work again. There is a small chance the lock actuator motor is frozen. If you have any questions on doing this just ask. Good Luck, Bernie
