I own a 92 9000 and have removed the whole speedometer cluster without disconnecting the battery. Like you say, DO NOT turn the key at anytime without having all the connectors connected again to the speedometer. Do you have a Turbo or non Turbo model and what type of Transmission?. I´m asking because the Turbo model, has a black vacuum hose attached to it and after years, they become very fragile and I would replace it if you have the Turbo model. As for the Transmission, at the bottom of the Speedometer it has the EDU and the´re different from the Automatic from the Manual Transmission. Fuses for the Speedometer? I thick is #17 on your fuse panel but look and make sure. Hope this can help you.
