That's certainly a possibility and parting it out was my first instinct. A problem is that I can't keep a parts car here. I'd only have a short time to take parts off and anything left would have to go to the crusher. (I already have another 9000, a 1995 CSE, that any salvaged parts can be used for.)
I'm figuring though if I can find a decent used trans it would be worth doing the swap since the cost would be measured in hundreds rather than thousands of dollars. One advantage of this car being a beater is not worrying about the hazards of daily use or winter salt. (The other 9000 is a really nice low-mileage, rust-free car and I don't want to beat it to death.) So it would be nice to have it back on the road if that can be done economically.
With cold weather approaching fast I'm not going to be able to do much one way or the other with this until spring.
