Thank you for explaining the plunger length adjustment. Usually when I apply a lot of force to a plastic part that's over 20 years old the result is a broken part. I pulled on the plunger, but not with enough force to extend its length. Fortunately it is working for me at the factory set length.
Yes, the switch will pop out of the bracket on a '96. I removed the switch with the bracket because for me that was less awkward and less likely to result in broken plastic tabs.
