For the first time since 1992 I'm without a Saab. Bough my brand new white '92 9000 5 speed right off the showroom floor. After falling in love with Saab's and feeling the need for a turbo, I bought a silver '98 CSE, 5 speed with 32k miles in 2000. Kept the '92 until 2010 when I gave it to my daughter for her 16th birthday. I brought her home from the hospital after she was born in that car, so her first car was the first car she ever rode in.
After buying the daughter a new Honda Accord for college an old time friend bought the white '92. He still has it, and now he's a Saab fan.
Now his daughter, who I've known since she was a little girl has purchased my silver '98 CSE. Her dad just drove it from my home in Illinois to her in Eagle Rock CA. She loves it. If you see a silver CSE in the LA area with Tors Saab of Lompoc license plate holders, it might be her.
A little info on the silver '98. It has 266,000 miles, with all original parts except for air-con compressor, doesn't burn oil, and leather seats perfect after regular Leantherique treatments. Car was never driven in salt. Not once. I always drove my work truck in winter. Paint also perfect as it lived in a heated and air conditioned garage.
By the way I'm carrying on, I guess you can tell I've loved my Saabs. I'm older now with some health problems, so it's time to move on, so I did. But it sure feels weird to walk into the garage and not the car I've owned for the past 17 years.
Over those years, I've gotten great help on this board, and I thank you all for that.
I'll still be posting occasionally when Mae needs help with her new '98
