Receiver/dryer Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Sat, 13 May 2017 12:54:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi, I have a dilemma. I tried to get my a/c charged up, and they told me the compressor and the high pressure line were both leaking. I had spares for both of those, and in the process of swapping them out I have noticed that the receiver/dryer is VERY rusty. Now, I have one of those as well that looks to be in good shape, and came off a system that was working at the time it was removed. However, it's been off the car for at least 18 months. So I don't know which is riskier, the rusty one that has been in a (relatively) sealed system, or a pristine-looking one that has been sitting in my garage, and possibly absorbed a lot of moisture. Any opinions? I know a new one is fairly cheap from Eeuroparts, but the car is in pieces now and needs to get back on the road by Monday. A tie goes to leaving the old one on, due to the fact I've already put the compressor back in, plus the risk of damaging the return line to the receiver when turn the rusty nut.
