In case anyone is looking for this info later on, the outer diameter of the shift coupler is 20mm. I managed to lock the shaft in place by drilling a 10mm hole in one half of a 20mm split shaft collar, and a 6mm diameter indent of a depth of about 1mm on the other half. The half with the 10mm hole fits over the taper pin nut, while the indent fits over the other end of the pin. It was pretty difficult to get on, and to tighten. I wasn't able to tighten it enough to do as I had planned, which was to force the pin in far enough to wedge it, which would allow me to remove the collar and just tighten the nut. Instead I had to leave the collar in place. It's a pretty tight fit, but it doesn't appear to interfere with the sensor in the trans or anything else nearby.
