Tracking down a battery drain issue, questions Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Mon, 12 Nov 2018 05:27:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I started tracking down a battery drain issue on my 96 Aero. I've had trouble with the car going dead even after charging the battery fully. I got out my multimeter after charging the battery overnight and I disconnected the negative cable and put the meter in series on the 10 Amp scale. When I first touch the probe, the amps go to about 1.25 A for about 5 seconds and then drops to 0.030 on the scale, which would be 30 milliamps. Is this about normal for a parasitic drain on a 9K? I started having the problem after switching radios but I've had this problem on and off for a while. I might pull the radio and check it again.
