Were powered mirrors a dealer option on the GL? I doubt the mirrors on my 77 GL are replacements. I contacted the junk yard I got the other pair of mirrors from and they were from a 1978 .. both from the same car, however only one is chromed. This is a real mystery. Maybe chromed mirrors were an option? The flag style mirrors show up in 1977, I suppose it is possible that the very first ones were chrome plated to match the chrome mirrors of the previous years but at some point they went black.
