Where do you read about lower compression ?
If it has O2 sensor and the lambda CIS you're better off
keeping the system intact for best overall running.
I don't think the engine itself is any different, CIS vs CIS Lambda.
99 might be slightly quicker to 15 mph maybe due to gearing, but the SPG will blow it away as soon as there is boost - +45 hp is +45 hp.
