George, Wait until you get the filter in before you do anything else as far as adjustments go.If you have spark, your coil should be fine. Ohm it out hot and cold to confirm with specs. Do you have 20 clicks? Don't leave your key on too long doing this check...you could burn out your ignition resistor! Remove the trigger points...spray them down with carb cleaner, and re-installl them. Did you have the distributer out at all? It is possible that your 180 degrees off, instead of top dead center. It will actually run pretty well that way. Another thing to check is your warm-up valve. Remove it, confirm it's working well by putting it in boiling water momentarily.It should fully open/close with the temp changes.
