"I have read to use 1.5" ID "Y" portion of manifold tubes into a single 2" outlet pipe with silencer, and the other recipe was to use 1 3/4" all the way through the "y" set up. I am planning on mounting my 2-bl manifold with a weber 5200. Which is the better street exhaust pipe setup?"

I do not have any clear answer to your question as stated but am happy to report my own experience and opinion. On my stock 1.5L V4 the stock (about 1-1/4 IRRC) pipes out of each side were expanded to 2" very close to the heads, and wyed into 2" at a reasonable distance downstream, underneath. 2" back to the muffler fiddled into the space (95 wagon) by my muffler expert achieved a nice balance between noise and power. This made a good difference in performance at a very low price.

On my next project 1.5L V4 the cylinder head outlets have been reamed to 1-3/4" per Saab specs. I will have 2" exhaust from the outlets down to the wye on both sides, though I do not know why 1-3/4" would not do just as well, any comment?

I do not know what is a 5200. I run 32/36DGAV and am very satisfied.

If you are serious about power, talk to Jack Lawrence, Jack Ashcraft, Bud Clark, they are the gurus, not me.
