Thanks for the reply. It is the potential for rust on gears, ring and pinion, etc. that was worrisome about the transmission. It has not been exposed to weather, but neither has it been turned over to spread transmission fluid around... I suppose I could crack it open to take a look.
The engine is missing a few things, among them the fuel pump (but there is no plate over the hole through the block, so ???) and the carb. By "cross-ram intake" you refer to the intake manifold? If so, it's yours for shipping costs. I have retrofit a Weber to my 96, which is fully restored, but I doubt this engine ever saw one. The carb on the 95 is stock. Obviously, no carb, no linkage either.
I simply don't fancy ever using this engine or transmission, as the engine on the 95 is strong, and both engine and transmission on my 96 have been fully rebuilt and near perfect. The ring and pinion on the 95 is a bit noisy, so perhaps I should hold onto the transmission. Anyone else interested in the engine, let me know. I'm in SW Virginia, not far from Roanoke. They are all 1973 BTW
