Thanks, Eric, for the clear description on how to get to that plastic gear. I had Jack Ashcraft rebuild the speedometer for my Sonett III (and wow, does he polish it up nicely when rebuilding it!), but still not getting it to work and the cable seems fine. Now that I have a spare transmission I bought last year, I can likely get a spare for the plastic gear if the one on my Sonett is stripped.
