Anybody can beat any other person's pricing in the automotive new car game. You could have taken your $$ to Detroit for example, and they could have beat the Lansing deal. Oh, well.
And as for your repair issue, there are certainly 2 sides to it. I stated we (Fox, and/or its previous ownership) have had our differences. This repair you describe would have lit my fuse too, but the bigger picture was that after some dialogue, and yes even yelling at somebody on one specific instance, they made it right. No, they made it BETTER than right, to their own financial loss. As I see it, you have those options too. You chose not to pursue it--at least at this point.
In my own experience with them, I have had repairs that required multiple visits to diagnose/order parts/come-back when the parts are in/install the parts/problem still not fully resolved/order additional parts/ repeat .....
We have not heard their side of the story, so I feel a rush-to-judgement here is premature. I admit that based on what I have read from you so far, that SAAB customer svc 800 phone # would have been IMMEDIATELY involved in replacing the cut-out panel at zero cost. And, I believe in my heart that Fox would gladly correct it, if given the option to do so.
In several instances, I was the "first time we've seen this" and so, at least for me, I enjoyed the opportunity to work through the diagnosis/trouble-shooting portion of the repair. Yes, I have even asked them to bring-in the SAAB DSM to resolve differences. And they willingly cooperated. I have never left there feeling "screwed". Their lead tech is ABSOLUTELY first class. Top-shelf.
I know in business, that you cannot satisfy 100% of the people. I talk with many Saab people, and it is an impossible task to satisfy every owner.
Still, their mission is to TRY to achieve it.
Maybe in your business occupation, you have the magic formula to please everyone--but undoubtedly, there are people out there saying the very same things about you and your firm that you write here.
Regards.
