Alex,

Unfortunately, you have to replace the whole unit as the the foglight is a one-piece unit. This happened to me a few months ago but I too had no problem with the bulbs. But as time went on the glass became worse and it looked terrible.

I checked around on prices: dealer= $165=tax =$35 install, Trollhatten Parts= $150 total (included shipping). Other supply places were about the same, but charged more for shipping. So, I ordered the foglight from Trollhatten and received last week with no problems. This week I spoke with someone who got the foglight from a used parts store that had a few wrecked 9-3's with perfect lights for half of what I paid. So, you may want to check all the parts links here and in you area.

I decided that before I put it on I would get protection to avoid spending more cash on broken lights. After comparing uncut sheets of protection vs. pre-cut I found the cost difference to be very small and went with the pre-cut set to save time. I ordered a light cover set from X-PEL http://205.238.176.128/headlight/saab.html for $54.00 which will cover all 4 of my front lights. When they arrive I'll put on the new light and the covers and post the procedure and results.

Before everyone bashes Saab for using a one piece unit, keep in mind that BMW, Mercedes, and nearly all European and Japanese cars have the similar one piece units. My neighbor spent $175 to replace a headlight for a 1991 Honda Accord. The old add on Bosch lights had seperate lenses you could replace. But sometimes modern engineering and production overlook everyday practicality...

Yasou!
