Mark,
I have not installed hands free in a 9-3, but have in a 9-5. If you do not have Onstar it should be a fairly straightforward job. You do not need a Nokia phone. I used Nokia, but have seen posts from Motorola, and Ercisson users as well. All you need is a phone that makes a auto based hands free kit, and the Saab wiring harness. From there you just mate the two. It is totaly slick when done and not that hard to do. A couple of hours work at most. If you have a Nokia phone you will need an antenna as well. Not sure if Ericsson/Motorola require an additional antenna.
If you have Onstar, that seems to complicate things and you need to purchase an additional piece of hardware so all those damn electrons will play nice and get along. I never did this, but someone on the 9-5 board did with great results. The extra box was about a hundred bucks I think...
