Congrats! Why aren't you out driving it!!!
My '00 9-3 came with a "reserve" key - a T-shaped key with no electronics and no keyring hole. I think the manual said it would work just like a normal key, but I'll have to check. I've no idea how it operates with the alarm.
As far as the initial oil changes go, mine still had the 1000 mile service in the book, though I think Saab may have eliminated it. Maybe it isn't necessary, but when I had to wait until about 1700 miles to have this service done, I could just feel those little bits of metal ruining my engine. I did the 1000 mile change and am planning to do another this week (5000 miles). I was going to switch to Mobil 1 between 5000 and 10000, but I may wait, as I'm still getting somewhat low mileage (around 23 avg.) and I think the engine may need a little more breaking in. Once I've made the switch, I'll make the decision about whether to stick with the scheduled maintenance or do my own in between.
Keep us posted on how the first few weeks go.
