Sorry to hear about your windshield injury.
Yourinsurance company likely can refer you to a windshield glass repair place. The process involves creating a vacuum in the damaged area, then allowing a UV-sensitive epoxy to be sucked into the damaged area. I've seen it done, both demo'd at the SEMA show in Las Vegas a few years ago, and at a real repair place. Results are good, and the repair places seem to be honest - i.e., if the damage is too severe, they'll say so.
That said, if the damage is directly in the driver's line of sight, you're likely better off replacing the windshield, and your state's laws may require that be done under those circumstances. Just make sure you're getting SAAB-equivalent replacement. Perhaps your dealer could refer you to the shop they use?
Good luck!
