I took it in to the local Auto Glass repair place in my area, and he didn't even look at repairing it. It IS state law in KY that if the crack is in the driver's field of vision it must be replaced. The law states that even though it could be repaired, that the rework could leave a small "spider web"-type blemish, which, begin in the driver's view could be distracting.
He called his distributor and they only have Saab Windows (what he termed "Premium" which he said had manufacturing dates that coincided with the manufacturing dates of the car - so in other words, they were actual Saab supplied glass from Sweden). I was happy for that. He's going to fix in the morning, as it only takes an hour or so to replace.
Guess how much the windshield costs: $1,350! Ouch! I don't have to pay a cent though (of course they'll get me back by increasing my premium down the road sometime, I'm sure)
thanks,
Rob
