Mobil 1 15W-50 in my 1991 Alfa-Romeo Spider..... Even though the owners manual says 10W-30 or 10W-40 motor oil, the traditional Alfa-Romeo aluminum engine block and head mated with steel liners just has too big of clearances for the thinner oil. When I first bought the car I tried using 10W-30 oil and was adding a quart every 500-1000 miles. The local Alfa shop laughed at the new oil specification. As the owner pointed out, the engine design dated form the late 50's to early 60's, and the 10w-30 was used just to gain a MPG or two for the EPA tests. I switched to 15W-50 and now the engine only used a quart every 1500 miles or so. It is a classic Alfa engine, seals tight when the engine is up to temperature, but has lots of blow-by and leaks when the engine is cold.
