hesitation and rough idle . .

Many of you may recall a recent thread on this topic. Some 9-3 owners (including myself) have complained that loading the car with many accessories on cold mornings caused the interior to rattle and the engine to hesitate when shifting in and out of gear (auto). The consensus among the postings was that there is little that can be done regarding idle adjustment as idle is regulated by the AMM. The recommendation was to clean the throttle body, make sure the plugs are good.
Well, I had the dealer look the car over on Monday of this week and some simple observations may save you all from headaches. The dealer cleaned the throttle body and the AIC and replaced the plugs. As a result, all hesitation is gone and the car is running better than ever. The plugs were fouled after only 15K miles and were visibly worn at an angle toward the tip. I frankly didn't expect this much wear and would have changed them sooner had I know. I have always used the NGK BP6 plugs yet still have fouling most likely because of my commute habits.
Moral of the story . . . as many, many smart people have said on this board, the plugs are instrumental to the performance of your car. More than just providing a spark, they are essential engine management components. Replace them often (it's cheap).
