but since we got to '99 9-3's (the deal was that good) at the same time, I think I would've got one 9-3 for myself and a 9-5 wagon for the Mrs. just for variety's sake. ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS on either cars! Both have been trouble free and the full 4/50k warranty adds to piece of mind. As others have said, the all around sporty/utility/safety is hard to beat for the price. A BMW wagon, Audi Avant or Volvo V(?) may offer the same utility/safety, but aren't nearly as fun to drive (Saab's turbo 4cyl really creates an unrivaled boost) and cost much more. Don't forget that nearly all high performace cars require standard maintanence and I'm sure your old Pony car has seen it's share of replacements parts. The 9-3 will most likely get left in the dust to a muscle car off the line, but will pull away at highway speeds.
If you get paranoid about the 9-3's reliability a few years from now when thewarranty runs out, then at that point you can buy an extended warranty or sell it to another Saab lover...
