Anyone had this Weird Boost Problem?

Hi there. I've been lurking around the BB for a while and thought I ask the collective a question.
I have a 99 9-3 base with 26K kms on it. I use 92 or 93 octane gas.
Lately, I've noticed a weird thing with the turbo boost. If I accelerate slowly (so that the turbo needle is between the white bar and yellow bar), the car sometimes hesitates... as if the turbo doesn't know whether to kick in or not. It's like I get some boost, then it cuts out -- causing the car to hesistate slightly.
This usually occurs between 2000-4000 rpm. But not always. In fact, I have a hard time duplicating it. If I peg the throttle or if I accelerate very gently (so there's no boost), there's not a problem. Of course, the dealer said the car was running ok.
Has anyone had this happen? If so what is it?
Really appreciate any response.
Thanks
