You can't do anything to improve your car without reprogramming the ECU. It's very sophisticated (known as Trionic 7), and has a pre-determined torque curve it works to achieve -no matter what you do to the boost, engine power will not change.
If you take the hose off the wastegate, boost will increase until you hit the fuel cutoff.
As far as I know, you can't use an open-atmosphere valve either. The ECU measures the mass of air entering the engine, and will become "confused". I have heard that some particular dumpvalves however are usable..
In case you are wondering, concerning the boost control and dumpvalve, this is not the case on pre-2000 cars. They have a different type of engine management (Trionic-5) which allows this type of thing.
