ST,

The picture here is the label on the top of my head unit, which clearly shows that it is a Clarion. But the car is a 2000 9-3. According to the factory documents that came with the car, if I interpret the Swedish correctly, the car rolled off the production line on November 11, 1999. (It is highly unlikely that the dealer changed out the head unit, as the car already had this CD player in it when I bought it off the showroom floor.) The "MA 11" stamped across the label (it actually says 1999 off the edge of this picture) is presumably the "Manufactured:" date for the head unit, which would be either March 11 or May 11.

So here's a few questions:
- I was under the impression that only early model year 1999 9-3's have the Clarion head unit. Do any other folks with year 2000 cars also have a Clarion head unit?
- Does the diagram of the pin outs (top ISO connector) match that of anyone who has a 1999 9-3 that is working with Clarion's aftermarket CD changer (i.e. not the one that $aab $ells)? Or, do the pin outs of the early 1999 9-3 Clarion head unit match that on Richard Bevan's guide at
http://www.saabnet.com/sites/richard.bevan/fitting.html , i.e. with the second DIN connector (round) instead of the ISO connector (rectangle) for the CD changer connections?
- ST, does the diagram of my pin outs match the pin outs on your head unit?
- ST, why do you believe that the Clarion Z line would require a custom molex connector at the back of the head unit? My head unit already has a wired connector plugged into the top ISO jack, which presumably runs back to the trunk CD changer mounting area. If the Clarion Z line changer has the right bus, shouldn't it just be plug and play (or plug and pray) with the pre-wired connector in the trunk?
- And a more trivial question: if the Clarion Z changer works, will Saab's mounting brackets fit it?

But the crucial thing that we'd all like to know is if the new Clarion CeNet is compatible with the Saab Ebus. ST, please let us know the results of your experimentation ASAP so we can all jump for joy (or cry in our travel mugs).
