like Richard, I do my own maintenance not because I cannot afford it, but because I trust myself more to do the various procedures correctly, with diligence and care. I did bring my Viggen to the dealer for the 10k svc. because I ran out of time (99 bucks, by the way) and got an oil change that left the drain plug on so tight I had to use an 18" extension to undo it. (Dealer later commented the techs often do that just to prevent a return call due to oil drip)
Bottom line is if you feel competent to do an oil change, plugs, and the basic stuff yourself, go discuss this with the service manager, maybe buy the parts at the dealer and keep receipts for the synthetic oil you buy at wal mart, and you should have no warraty concerns. Good rapport and communication with the service manager is a definite plus though. Mine understands my desire to do my own work completely and has no issue with it.
