For what it's worth:
Ask if you can buy the car in NJ "for export" (i'm not sure of the exact terminology). This happens a lot, but I'm not clear as to the requirements for meeting it. For example, I live in NC (3% sales tax) and bought my Saab from a dealer in SC (no sales tax). The dealer put a SC temp tag on the car but the paperwork indicated it was for use in NC. I had to go to the DMV to pau the 3% myself. When I lived in Philly, people used to try to buy their cars in Delware cause no sales tax. But when they got to the DMV, it was time to pay the tax man.
But I have to believe that if someone from Delaware went to a PA dealer, they would not have to pay any tax.
It's at least a good idea to look into it. I'm sure your dealer in NJ would be interested in doing a little research to get your sale.
