If you've opted for a lesser-mileage lease, and you're going to get stung with a mileage-overage penalty, and you want a Saab, either on a new lease, new purchase, or keep the one you have, you may be better of negotiating at point of return than separating the transactions. You don't want to pay that penalty and the finance company doesn't want the uncertainty of going to market with the car.
I've read here where the finance company will waive mileage penalties on purchasing.
On fact bearing on this: The lease isn't with the dealer; it's with the finance company, but the dealer may have some ability to become your financial ally come turn-in time.
