There is another thread further down from Andrew regarding the Michelin Pilots. Now that I have thought about it, Impact Harshness might be a better description of what I am experiencing. I agree that the high pressures have an effect, but it even does this when I am at the lower pressures recommended on the sticker. The ride is OK on relatively smooth roads.
Somehow I am attempting to find that magic balance that my old Corrado had. I do admit that when really pushed, it would lift a rear tire off the ground, but that was a well known VW trait. Perhaps I will never find it as the convertible is much heavier and nowhere near as stiff for the reasons you mentioned.
I had followed your posts on the Viggen rescue kits with much interest. I tend to think that high performance oriented suspensions just are not appropriate for where I live in downtown Dallas. Basically the streets are always under repair. While you would think a city this far south would not have problems, they do. The culprit seems to be the local soils which contain a lot of clay. The stuff the locals call "black gumbo" will expand from 8-12% when going from dry to wet. It's as hard as brick when dry, and won't let go of your shovel when wet. You can literally gain an inch in height walking through a wet patch as it sticks to your shoes and itself.
anyway, I have digressed...thanks for all of your input.
