...then you may know that Saab has changed the way the wiring works and you can't integrate the Nokia CARK-91 hands free kit with your speakers and SID. Well, I learned this the hard way when I installed the CARK-91 into my days' old 9-3 SE last month, expecting it to be just like previous model years before OnStar became standard across the board. I thought that you just needed the Saab harness and everything would be great. Well, I thought wrong. I guess the deal they made with OnStar with this personal calling (useless if you already have a cell phone) forced them to disable this function.
I had the CARK-91 as installed for several days. It was ok. Just ok. But it didn't do what I wanted, which was for the radio to mute when ever I made a call or when a call came in, and the caller's voice to come through my speakers.
A week later I heard about The Triad, which is made by a company in New Mexico called UHLTronics (call Jim 505-856-1556). For just over $100, their product does with the '01s what the older models used to be able to do. It somehow interfaces with both the OnStar and the CARK-91 and everything lives in perfect harmony. I had it installed and couldn't be happier.
Consider this: I LOVE my new 9-3 SE. I love everything about it (except maybe the cup holder). And right now one of my favorite things about driving it is when a call comes in and the stero mutes and I hear the caller through my speakers. Tremendous. Like I said, I had the CARK-91 before and used the speaker that came with it. There is no comparison when you hear a call through your own speakers.
Just thought you should know.
