No flat changes or anything. Definately the fault of the original installer. Problem is that I just (sort-of) moved to Pittsburgh, PA the original installer, Costco Wholesale, is nowhere to be found within a few hundred miles of here. Strange, because there's a few almost anywhere else. My hometown has three and a population 10 times smaller than PGH...go figure.
I talked to one of the guys at the Costco tire center and he said that running them backwards shouldn't cause any excessive tread wear (could be BS), but would affect traction. Still, I've been driving around in every kind of icy, snowy, rainy condition that exists for the last 6000 miles, including MANY trips to the ski mountain, without any problems. It's hard to believe that I could actually get better traction than I have now -- it's right up there with my friend's 2.5RS w/ same tires, although he can obviously out accelerate me on ice :).
Anyway, I feel a bit incompetent for not noticing the backwards tires before...but luckily it hasn't caused me any problems thus far. Surprised the dealer didn't notice either, had 2 oil changes since tires were put on.
Since I'm not going to be anywhere near a Costco for several months, I have two choices: leave it as is until I put on the summers and have the winters fixed when I'm back home or shell out some money to re-mount one of the tires. I can swap the wheels across the front myself, which would leave only one tire on backwards. Opinions? Considering my experience thus far, I don't think that I'd need to have it changed for safety reasons.
