Sidestepping a clutch is just that. Push the clutch to the floor and slide your foot to the side. The clutch will spring back. DON'T DO THIS. All it will do is cause driveline damage.
Powershifting is basically just ripping the transmission into a gear without using the clutch....at least that's what I call it. I used to do it in my '66 beetle all of the time, of course I didn't give a damn about the car. I got pretty good at it though. I could shift gears without any grinding or forcing it by matching the engine and trans speed. Would I do that in my SAAB...NO WAY. Truck drivers do it all of the time though.
