EXACTLY! I don't know why people don't practice this potentially life saving technique in a place where they can do no damage. You'll quickly learn NOT to touch the brakes when the car is out of balance... There is a "point of no return" (usually past 40 degrees turning radius) where the car is gonna do a 180 (or worse) no matter what. You've got to find out how to avoid getting to that point and recover long before then.

The key is to "steer into the skid"... Yeah, we've all heard that in Driver's Ed 101 but have you REALLY practiced it? You also have to learn that touching the brakes when you've got little traction and the car is turning is a really bad idea. You should ease off the gas, wait for the car to regain traction, and when the front end is pointed in the right direction, get back on the gas gently to allow FWD to pull you out.

Oh, and if you have those 16" Michelin Pilots (or even the 15" "All-Season" <cough> <cough> Michelin MXV4's) stay home when it snows!
