I'm not assuming you're wealthy or anything, but I'm a 35 year old full-time student. I live on student loans and about $150 a month in steady income. If something happens to my car that renders it undrivable, my only option will be to oil up the chain on my mountain bike, set my alarm clock back a couple hours, and adjust my lifestyle until summer when I can make enough money to fix it.
