Window repair help - the green rollers! Posted by Paul [Email] (#792) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Paul) on Wed, 24 Nov 2010 17:03:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So, thanks to a lot of helpful older posts here on the window roller issue, I am partway into fixing the drivers' window on my '98 900S. I bought the rollers, got the door panel off, and the insulation peeled back. Lo and behold, there's the broken roller, I removed one half from the arm, and the other half from the window track.
Here is where I'm struggling with a couple of things. Using my hands inside the door, I can move the window up and down & around, but it sure doesn't feel like it's "on track" more just like it's floating there, with more side to side play than what seems right.
The more immediate challenge is just getting the green rollers installed in the track. The track has crimped points at the ends and at at least 2 spots in the middle, and it's *really* hard to shove the green roller past them.
Am I doing something wrong? It seems like I must not be doing something right, because all of the threads I've seen on this don't really have a lot of discussion about what needs to be done once the door panel is off.
Any help would be appreciated, so I don't have to wait for a rainless day, and drive to the mechanic, parts in hand, to have them fix this!
Thanks in advance & Happy Thanksgiving!
Paul
