Having just done this...new mounts, bearing, strut shock, control arms, etc. I'm thinking you might be able to drop the strut enough to remove the mount by just disconnecting the sway bar link and leaving the control arm/stanchion connected. It won't be easy to work in the tower if at all possible.

I'd do as nwar suggested, do both sides and replace as much as you can afford once you're in there. Also, try to get OEM mounts (GS has them and I don't think eEuro does) as I've heard bad things about the Uro and other aftermarket. Search the forums....
