I'll be interested to hear what others have to say, but I am surprised you're getting those readings. I thought that a cold engine and an engine that has been off and cooling for 10 minutes would be the same because 'all' of the oil that was being used higher in the engine had time to drain down to the sump where the dipstick measures. The only time I thought you could get a bad reading (assuming you're parked on a flat surface and reading the dipstick properly) is when you have just shut off the engine and the reading would appear to be lower because oil is still up doing its job.?.? -JerryC
