Getting under your Saab to remove the plug and drain the oil is a drag. Ramps don't clear the front fenders well, unless you have extenders. What I do is step up a few 4" concrete blocks, and drive gently up on them. This gives enough clearance to get under and swing a ratchet (with a 12" length of pipe on the handle to give more leverage--- the drain plugs on Saabs are notoriously stuck).
I'm a big proponent of mid-grade (10w30, or perhaps other depending on your clime) dino oil. It has served me well for 179k miles on my 94 900 set, and on a Ford Bronco which has nearly a quarter million miles on it, with no rebuilds. Avoid at all costs extreme range dino oils--- the 5w40s, etc. They don't hold their viscosity. For my money and driving habits, and real life experience, I can't justify the cost of syns. I buy what's on sale, both oil and filter.
