Ignition after car is shutdown. Too lean?

So, there are a few tiny little issues ive been tracking down with my 98 2.0 SE Turbo Manual....One with the A/C that ive narrowed down to a leak in the system. One with some slight bogging at idle that causes the car to stall sometimes. Here is the newest...

I have once or twice noticed the car will produce a small backfire on overrun. Typically btw 2nd and 3rd gear...very rare. Today, i shut the car down and it continued to fire for a few revolutions, then came to a halt. Then fired once more, then finally stopped for good.

I knwo this can be caused by a lean condition....but what could cause that? I have no codes except for a bad rear 02 sensor. Related?
