Great response regarding the fuel pump "red cap" suggestion - thanks, I'll ask my mechanic! As for the confusion . . . on two separate occasions my 9 3 failed to re-start right away after a short drive (crank but not start). I had the codes read and one of several came up as the "camshaft position sensor", which a fellow member here now informs me is actually the DI Cassette. The next time it failed to re-start, it was towed to the shop. Prior to that it never hesitated to crank or stall. My mechanic checked it and found the fuel pump wasn’t coming on and replaced it but now we can’t get it to start – it turns over and you can hear the fuel pump working, unlike before, but no gas is getting to the fuel filter – mechanic thinks the new fuel pump may be bad but had to leave for vacation. He suggested I try to find someone who might know since he is unfamiliar with Saabs. I'm waiting looking for replies now as to whether or not the starting problem could be associated with a bad DI Cassette as opposed to it having needed a new fuel pump which might explain why the new fuel pump isn't working? As for the "cheap" parts issue . . . typically I would be afraid to install anything other than OEM parts but apparently this one has been on a long back order. A member here however claims he purchased and installed a less expensive one from "A1 Auto Parts" online which he is very satisfied with after months of use. I hope this clears up any confusion! I've done some reading on my starting problem and find two other things that have been known to be the culprit - the crankshaft position sensor and the neutral safety switch but can't feel comfortable about those being the problem until I have the codes read again and get a list that can be "translated" into “Saab Speech" by good guys like you here! I have also found some posts that connect this type of starting problem with strange acting CD/Radio and remote lock/unlock problems which began happening when the starting problem occurred. In addition, I've come across a post that talked about a starting problem after having headlamps replaced/repositioned - something that my mechanic did a few weeks prior to the starting issue. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
