The p0340 code is a DI code. A bad DI can cause a no fuel and non start. The black ones are more prone to flat out dying whereas the old red ones would usually give plenty of warning, misfiring, bucking under acceleration, poor idle, etc.. I would try one you know will at least start a car. Check for voltage at the fuel pump fuse while cranking the engine. 12 Volts at the fuse and no fuel pressure at the fuel rail can only be a bad pump or possibly total fuel filter blockage or cut fuel line. You would probably notice that! I've never seen a clogged filter in 22 years but hey, I guess it's possible. No voltage at the fuse probably crank sensor or DI cassette. Last thursday, a customer called with a non start but the car was a $500 tow away. The import garage told them the key was bad from trying to jump the car and needed an alarm unit nit and a new key. I talked to the owner to see what kind of diagnostics had beed performed to arrive at this. (No code reader or tech-2, never worked on a Saab before.) I suggested they at least scrape up a used DI from a junk yard. Bingo! End of problem. Good Luck! Dan at Road Tested Saabs in Indianapolis.
