No help in preventing the cause

It might make you feel better, but it won't actually help. The causes of sludge are related to engine design & how it (& the turbo) abuses the oil.

Your best prevention is going to be using Auto-Rx & then switching to an ACEA A3/B3/B4 rated fully synthetic oil & larger oil filter.
