Don't know why the Tech 2 mistook it for being a CKP sensor but maybe it was an operator error since the Tech 2 display CKP sensor code every time when hooked up and engine not running on a V6 car.

I would replace all ignition wires and spark plugs first when encountering a misfire symptom on a V6 engine.

At 60K miles the plugs and wires are due anyway.

Maybe the spark plug wells are flooded with oil from leaking valve cover gaskets?
