NAPA House Brand Calipers? Posted by Sondeen [Email] (#796) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Sondeen) on Sun, 28 Jul 2013 15:50:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Does anyone have experience with Napa house brand remanufactured parts?
I was working on my brakes today, new Brembro rotors and Akebono pads all around. I found my rear calipers both had frozen inner pistons. By the amount of rust on the inner side of the disk, and the amount material left on the inner pad, they must have been frozen for some time, so I think new (rebuilt) calipers are in order. Looking at the usual site sponsors for parts, I find the OG 9-3 rear calipers not readily available.
I do see on the Napa website that a local Napa has "Napa Total Eclipse" reman'ed calipers in stock for about $80, as well as Nugeon brand reman'ed calipers for about twice the price. Rock Auto lists some varios brands, A1Cardone, Raybestos, Wagner, Centric, etc. at various price points.
So why the big price difference? Anyone have good or bad experience with the Napa brand or any of the others?
Is this the type of thing where you get what you pay for? I would rather pay a bit more if it means less chance I need to replace the part again in a few years. I plan to hold onto the car for many more years.
Thanks,
Mark
